Samuel Cooper, 58, died from injuries in a Steubenville hit and run. Francis W. Poulson, 47, Democratic state chairman, survived after his car hit a tree near Northfield Summit County.
In Geneva Dr Eduard Benes foreign minister of Czechoslovakia was elected president of the League of Nations Assembly. He won 49 of 53 ballots as the Italo Ethiopian crisis loomed large. He pledged to face dangers and expressed faith in pacification.
James Davis of Dayton admitted guilt to a manslaughter charge over the death of Oliver Irvin Ford of Lancaster. Davis was held to the grand jury under a $2,000 bond by Magistrate 8. B. Whitehart and, failing to post, was sent to Hocking County jail awaiting October grand jury actions.
Mary Margaret Powell, age two, daughter of Dr William Powell a Norwood dentist, died after choking on whooping cough Sunday night. Assistant Coroner Ward Ventress reported the case in Cincinnati.
Captain Jack Whitehead abandoned his voyage to New Orleans in the 14 foot boat F. D. Roosevelt after his crew member Barney Brown left for a job on Saturday. Whitehead steered back to port at Warren by land, leaving the vessel to return due to navigational difficulties on the Ohio River.
Democrat Frank J. Hinkle, who sought the state senate from Stark Carroll Counties, was charged with violating federal internal revenue laws in connection with a liquor still found on his farm near Canton. Federal agents arrested two Cleveland men, Arthur Sawicki 26 and Charles Martin 24, as Hinkle stayed in Stark County jail. Ness said Hinkle claimed his wife leased the farm building to two strangers on August 4 while he was away.
Joseph J. Meluch 37 a correspondence school detective who confessed to killing his seven week bride returned to Lorain after a surrender in St. Louis. He will likely undergo sanity examinations as his mother Mrs Stephen Meluch asserts he is insane.
A German spokesman said Hitler will likely raise Germanys need for colonies before the Reich officially leaves the League of Nations on October 14.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Chillicothe Ohio for Nancy Mann Waddle Woodrow known by pen name Mrs Wilson Woodrow. She died in New York Sunday and was a native of Chillicothe.

In Cincinnati Edward Walf, 31, dies in hospital as the blast that wrecked his home leaves his father August, 80, dead by inhaling gas in a suicide plan. Edward claimed he inadvertently caused the blast while turning on a light after finding his father unconscious. Mrs Anna Wolf, 72, and Charles Meyers, 67, were injured.
Police hunted the owners of an illicit liquor still after it exploded killing Tony Gighello, 40, in Cleveland. The 300 gallon per day still was hidden in a building disguised as a fruit store.
