Didnt Know Fremont Couple Remarry After Annulment
Orval Rifle, 32, of Fosteria and his former wife Alice Amelia Stout, 16, of Fremont, lived together five months after their marriage was annulled before learning the court action. They eloped to Jacksonville and wed January 20, 1928. The girl’s father Robert Stout had the marriage annulled March 20 on grounds she was a minor. The couple lived together until August 11, unaware the decree had been granted. Rifle had a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized. He learned of the annulment upon returning home and sought to claim his wife. Common pleas court attaches advised them to remarry.
