Missing man from Cincinnati visited relatives now unlocated

Warren Crappette known as Chappelle, 35, from Cincinnati, disappeared after leaving his brother’s West End home to ride a 3 15 train to Creanati. Police tracked him along B and C tracks to a bridge then into fields. search extended to Athens with no results. He had shown signs of mental distress while visiting.

Foreman’s mock marriage ends in village widow fraud

An Athens county man Foreman defrauded a widow near Stewart by a fake courtship and a mock marriage to gain ten or more acres of land and cash. He disappeared after writing that the ceremony was not real and that he wanted only the money. He had prior marriage ties in Parkerburg and Meigs county. Local reports mention accompanying officials at the State Fair and a city council meeting with contract details and resignations.

Death of John Wilson A Lifelong Resident and Treasurer

John Wilson aged about fifty four died suddenly at home after suffering throat trouble described as laryngitis. While visiting Columbia for a fair he returned home Saturday feeling worse and died Sunday evening from apparent strangulation.
