A political tract laments Democratic money policy arguing that flooding greenbacks would cheapen currency and bonds, destroy national banks, and drive down credit valuation, warning of repudiation and government theft of public trust amid factional finance battles.
Cou Wa Dawson, foreman of Champion Plow Works in Dayton, was followed on the street and fatally stabbed plus robbed of his gold watch and pocketbook by an outlaw named Murphy on Tuesday night.
In a historic letter from Sam Cary, the writer denounces the opposing party for actions during the rebellion. He accuses them of recruiting traitors, denouncing Lincoln, opposing emancipation, and discouraging enlistment. He predicts they will oppose the constitutional amendment and urges true loyalists to stand ready.
The Pomeroy Telegraph argues that a government stamp cannot confer genuine value on a mutilated twenty dollar gold piece. It illustrates by removing gold content and asks if stamped coins should pass as real currency. The piece condemns arbitrary power as robbery.
The text warns that Ohio Democrats tax policy, if enacted, would cause unprecedented panic. It says government credit would be destroyed, $800 million of bonds held abroad would be returned, business disrupted, confidence shattered, and debtors ruined. It urges business people in debt to seek deliverance.
