Local candidates listed as filing fees and petitions update
The article lists numerous candidates for several towns and townships with their slates and offices. It notes filing fees totaling about 150 dollars based on half a percent of annual salary and states petitions are on file awaiting a five day protest period before petitions are deemed valid. The election board clerk expects a Thursday meeting to review petitions. It also plans to decide on filing resolutions for tax levies and bond issues and anticipates one or two more levies. A county wide one mill levy is proposed by commissioners, with a bond issue for Rockbridge and South Bloomingville and a centralization program for Green Township electors. Falls District may propose a three mill school levy for operating expenses.
