Affiant Denies Stock Purchases in Pittsburgh Coal Co
Taplin states he did not tell Lewis he or any associates bought or planned to buy Pittsburgh Coal stock. He argues control rests with a few individuals and is not market accessible. The stock spike came after the Miami conference, not during any control plot. The only stock reference was Lewis suggesting Taplin seize stock to restore union control, which Taplin rejected. He notes Pittsburgh Terminal Coal Co holds a key wage position and signing a scale could persuade others.
