In Ottumwa Iowa Wilkins Priest 55 remains trapped in a 75 foot well for 24 hours as rescuers shift from bracing walls to digging a side ditch. Bricks and sand threaten efforts while Priest urges speed and air supply improves with daylight. Ed Kirkland was briefly injured by a brick.
Marcellus Davis also known as Sallie Conn, 60, a farmer near New Lexington, is jailed on charges of shooting with intent to kill after allegedly abusing his 19 year old son Thomas and firing several times at him from under a house, injuring him in the leg and hip. Davis lives on a small farm five miles south of town on the Moxahala Road.
Washington Sept 6 The Senate Agriculture Committee decided to call members of the Federal Farm Board and examine them in open session to determine their fitness to hold their positions.
At the Corning Banking Company board meeting on September 6 Leo Radkoski of Corning was elected cashier replacing the late John Sweeney. The announcement confirms Radkoski's new role and leadership transition in the local bank.

Ruth Greer age 18 from Woodward Oklahoma and E N Douglas 17 from Memphis were killed when a plane crashed in Memphis. Pilot Frank Hays 19 of Memphis was critically injured after taking two passengers on his first solo flight without permission.

Columbus Ohio September 6 1930 Ur Ohbio reports satisfactory response to Prohibition enforcement. Rupert Ko Beetham dry commissioner notes the program extended to enforcement course and public cooperation. He says the department aims to secure citizen cooperation rather than police the state. Ohio men and women reportedly responded admirably improving the prohibition situation and no judge has refused to administer the law justly.
Mrs Ruth Pratt, congresswoman, named Republican National Committeewoman for New York to replace Mrs Charles H Sabin who resigned over prohibition policy. Pratt’s selection also secures Hoover’s slate against Charles D Hilles in New York within the party structure.
Henry Dickinson former president of the Mt. Victory Bank started a one year sentence in the state penitentiary after being found guilty of falsifying a statement to the State Banking Department. He arrived in custody with Hardin County officials.
