McArthur village council boosted the daily and night marshals' pay from 100 to 125 dollars monthly, effective immediately. The Wilson W. Koh Co of Tiffin was slated to begin gathering data for the proposed McArthur power plant, with residents asked to provide paid electric light bills to help assess consumption and costs.
McArthur Vinton County commissioners in regular session approved a supplemental appropriation of 3500 to finish mowing the right of way on various roads. Engineer J M Ogan estimated the cost. The board also approved regular bills. Argentina ranks second in South America by area and population.
Obituary notices detail the death of John Steele, age 92, lifelong Win ton County resident, at his New Plymouth home. A decision on combining the pighate and common pleas courts of Vinton County is awaited after hearings Aug 28 and 29. Judge Frank Acton heard 16 witnesses on petition signatures with objections by C W Smith and W J Jones. Proponents included Boney Weede Nira Trekker and Otto Dearth. briefs due Sept 4 with a prompt ruling promised.
