The Athens concert band plans a Tuesday morning departure with State Commander Townsend and staff to Louisville for the National encampment of the G A R. Four first class musicians join the group: John W. Yeakte James T. Lewis Will Stewart Thomas Dean and F H McVay. A farewell concert on the court house corner next Monday evening features a program including The Tribune Telegraph March and Poet and Peasant among others, with Prof. Chas. Grim bringing two Cherokee Indians for the occasion.

Tramps Open Fire at Freight Depot Clash
A gang of five to six tramps camped near the B and O S W depot fired four shots in a public disturbance. One man was shot in the neck, another in the arm, while the shooter fled toward the Hocking line and others were jailed and later released. Separate notices announce a Turchin brigade meeting at the Rossmore Hotel in Chattanooga to discuss Mission Ridge and a local millinery and inexpensive meals at nearby establishments.
