Last minute efforts to mold tax and budget compromises in the Ohio Senate failed to secure final passage next week. Sen. Nixon will decide with the defense budget next January. manpower expected at 820 000 to 840 000 as Vietnam withdrawals continue. The Army relies more on National Guard and Reserve in major emergencies.
President Novice Fawcett says a $30 quarterly fee increase is unavoidable at Ohio State University, even if a large tax bill passes. The rise from $170 to $200 would support existing programs with funds from proposed income or sales taxes, unless ruled impermissible under Nixon’s wage price freeze.
