Anna Lucasta a topnotch drama with strong cast
Hollywood review praises Anna Lucasta as a superbly acted drama led by Paulette Goddard as Anna and John Ireland as the suitor. Strong supporting turns by Broderick Crawford and Oscar Homolka lift the film, while the Philip Yordan script is toned for family audiences and draws warmth from flawed characters. Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff is noted for box office style.

Readers' Review Damion's Daughter
Ed win Gilbert's Damion's Daughter is billed as a bold statement on modern theater but delivers a melodramatic plot with overdrawn characters and pretentious erudition. Ira Damion, a lecherous producer, clings to his daughter Leonore while Paul Copely designs scenery for Home town. The critic faults the novel for sentimentality and impractical modernist preaching.
