Report states the Lorain Coal Company offers six dollar scale pay amid death claims and delays as three Atlantic fliers are confirmed dead and four others plan to resume after difficulties. The last sighting of a princess and two fliers was more than 50 hours ago with two forced landings reported between Windsor and London yesterday.
Multiple fliers face peril as attempts to span the Atlantic by air continue. Princess Anne Lowenstein Wertheim and two others in the Saint Raphael were overdue near St Johns after leaving Ireland. Other crews press toward distant goals amid fog and weather delays.
Eddie Stinson, hailed as a dean of American fliers, urged rational preparations and slower pace for long trans ocean flights. He said he would refuse orders for planes intended for solo long flights and admitted he could not deter Paul Redfern from his ill fated Georgia to Brazil attempt.

Six United Mine Workers officials and workers were arrested in Coshocton and charged with assaulting non union miners after a near riot incident involving two rail cars of workers. P J Bender posted a $1000 bond and others remained jailed pending arraignment in common pleas court.
Armed guards accompanied coal trains through Belmont county after shelling of a B and O freight near Lafferty in which fireman J A McKee was killed. A union official Fr J Bender and five unionists were jailed in Coshocton over an alleged attack on non union workers at the Robert Dewolf mine. Bender and the others face assault charges for beating Paul Quing and Albert Stites during a near riot. Adolph Pacificio, VP Belmont County miners organization, was ordered arrested for violating a restraining order.
Belmont county cannot pay 50 special deputy sheriffs at local mines due to a funds shortage. The county sought a $12,000 loan to finance the deputies to prevent mine disturbances but has not obtained it. Current obligations total $9,000 for salaries uniforms and barrack equipment.
A temporary restraining order issued by Judge L. G. Worstell in common pleas court blocks R R Johnson Athens county treasurer from collecting 1500 including 20 percent penalty on Edyth F Lawhead property. The action arises from a state assessment on alleged liquor sales at premises leased to George H Maxwell. The order pauses collection until a permanent injunction hearing.
The Ohio White Brick company plant in New Lexington resumed operations today using non union workers after disorders last week. Deputies and Sheriff Harley McNabb protected the plant overnight while union pickets, withdrawn two days earlier, have not been replaced. In Pomeroy Mary Wolf died leaving a $3.85 Farmers Bank deposit and a small Minersville home. Her sons George James and Weaver inherited. To save costs two heirs quit claimed to Weaver while securing the bank funds requires an administrator and bond, an expense far above the amount, likely leaving the 3.85 untouched for years.
Four signatures D V Mace H L Rockhold G E Christman and J W Albright were ruled insufficient and non residents and ordered stricken from the referendum petition. Judge L G Worstell of common pleas court made the ruling. The remaining 596 signatures will be sent to the secretary of state by Election Clerk Dave Johnson.
A Warsaw dispatch reports an attempt on a Soviet Russian legation official in Warsaw ended with the attacker fatally shot by a legation employee. The incident underscores tense relations in the area.
Mrs Beasley and saddle mare Vivian Sigel won second place in the five gaited combination saddle or harness class at the state fair horse show. Don Poston of Columbus, formerly Athens, placed third with Flying Cloud. Mrs Beasley has multiple entries at the state fair horse show.
Eleven petitions by the state for new trials in obtaining right of ways through property on county highway were overruled today by Judge 8. M. Johnson in the Athens County Probate court. This is the twelfth such suit. all requests have been overruled. Defendants named reside in Mechanicsburg south of Athens.
In Hazleton Pennsylvania on September 2 a blast destroyed the home of Daniel T. McKelvie president of the Pennsylvania Police Chiefs association. Authorities say about 60 sticks of dynamite were placed under the front porch by an underworld gang. No injuries reported.
Grain Coal and Dock company outlines settlement in the Eastern Ohio wage dispute. Miners are offered 6 dollars per day for day work if they return to work, matching a promised basis near 7.60 dollars per day under the old agreement. The move follows statements by John L. Lewis and Ohio operators regarding mining prices and conditions.
Unionized guard John Weakley 50 was shot and killed by Kellogg and Riley, two convicts during a gun battle near Perry town hall. Kellogg wounded in chase and captured two blocks away. Riley found in the weeds. Four convicts were brought from the brick plant for dental work with Dr. Kishier.
Henry H. Bowers 65 a Spanish American War veteran died late yesterday twenty minutes after returning from Detroit where he attended the national convention of Spanish American War veterans. In Dayton two army Pacific fliers Lieutenants Albert F. Hegenberger and Lester J. Maitland will join the Army and Navy Union. Hegenberger to be installed at ceremonies at the national military home tomorrow. Maitland to be inducted at the national convention in Washington.
President Coolidge abandons Silent Cal persona during a West trip. He pats babies and greets crowds as he visits Newell Nisland irrigation project and a county fair, jokes about becoming a South Dakota farmer, and plans a Brookings library dedication on his way back to Washington. Public criticism over not acknowledging greetings prompted the change.
Wilmington report states Robert Cowan aged 25 was killed in a single vehicle crash. Walter Cullerson aged 22 is hospitalized with multiple injuries including fractures to both legs a fractured collar bone a crushed chest and a tired arm. Carl Bamte remains in county jail pending investigation.
Fred Hamilton, 35, on the brink of separation from his wife, fatally shot himself late yesterday. He held a shotgun to his chest and pulled the trigger.
Defendants in the Luhrig Collieries Co. v United Mine Workers suit in Athens County Pleas Court file a demurrer.
