District strips donor name from restored Athens stadium
After a tornado destroyed Athens High and a district athletic group raised about 700000 in donations for the rebuilt stadium once named for Scott Riggs the name was removed due to missed payments. Superintendent Tom Gibbs said the district has stopped using the name publicly and will refer to events at the site as R Basil Butter Field while discussions continue.
