Meigs County Republicans Rally in Pomeroy Set

Meigs County Republicans plan a Wednesday rally in Pomeroy at Odd Fellows Hall. John W. Sullivan, from the Republican Speakers Bureau of Ohio, will speak with music and refreshments. A radio will carry Governor Dewey’s address. Meigs Drum Corps will perform before the program.

Middleport Social Notes Celebrate Birthdays and Happenings

Relatives attend funeral services for Price W. Corder 60 who died after a month long illness at Mt Carmel Hospital Columbus. Services at Spears Funeral Home and burial in Sunset Cemetery. Corder was a Buckeye Steel Castings clerk for 40 years and a Methodist Church member. Survived by wife Beatrice Burton two daughters two grandchildren and other relatives.

Pomeroy Bride Leads Ackley Union in Beverly Ceremony

Mrs Earl Young of W Main announces the marriage of her daughter Dorostiny Lucille to Charles Ackley of Guysville. Rev Howard Warner officiated at the Beverly Presbyterian church Sunday. The bride wore a navy street length dress with black accessories and carried a handkerchief from her brother in France. pink rosebuds adorned her shoulder corsage. Attendants included her sister Mrs Clifford Young and Miss Lennie Sharp. matron of honor wore a three-piece dress with yellow pompons. The couple, with Dorostiny a 1935 Pomeroy High School graduate, and Ackley a Carthage School graduate, plan farming life.

Meigs County World Community Day Planned at Heath Church

Meigs County plans World Community Day the first Friday in November to study peace themes. The event at Heath Methodist Church features two sessions with organ music, panel discussion on economic independence, and a casserole supper. Pomeroy Woman Learns Husband Won Good Conduct Ribbon

Mrs. Harry Bolinger formerly Morarity learns her husband has received the Good Conduct Ribbon after eight years overseas. He is stationed in New Guinea. The couple has daughter Jo Ann. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Bolinger of Pomeroy. A son Raymond serves in the Marines in the Hawaiian Islands.

Theodorous Daughters of America hold Gallipolis meeting

Thirty members gathered in Gallipolis for an initiatory work at a Daughters of America union meeting at the council. Middleport Girl Becomes Rutland Bride Harold Davis weds Frances Davidson

Frances Louise Davidson of Parkersburg youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs T W Davidson of Middleport wed Harold Guy Davis son of the late Clyde Davis and Mrs Minnie Davis of Chicago on October 22 at the Methodist Church of Rutland. Rev Harry Rothrock officiated. Bridal party included Alwilda Davidson Ruth Locke and Dorothy Davidson. The reception followed at Elizabeth Davidson home. The couple will visit Baltimore and plan to live in Chicago.
