Jury Waiver Delays Athens Murder Trial Split Hearings

Three defendants in the John O'Brien murder case faced delays as Carl and Gilbert Helwig waived jury trials and John Faught’s trial was paused. Judge Rowland sustained the move, citing late-hour waiver, with seventy-five jurors awaiting in the building and defense and prosecution arguing the impact on the case. Meanwhile in San Jose a jail visit resembled an aquarium with inmates claiming animal names and alcohol ties.
