The Wild Affair defendants clash with Judge Julius Hoffman as Bobby Seale resists confinement and demands self defense. Seale, not free on bond, is jailed on a murder warrant from New Haven. Marshals gag him multiple times amid tense proceedings.
U S military reports show 102 American combat deaths in Vietnam last week, up 24 from the prior week, with 10 killed in a northwest Saigon battle. Enemy toll climbs to 2,303.
