Students at West Elementary and other area schools conducted a mock election with the theme Vote Help Keep America Free. The fifth grade led the effort as the school transformed its library into a polling place and messages urged adults to vote yes for the school bond issue.

The Columbus and Southern Ohio Electric Co entertained area high school home economics teachers Ohio University home economics faculty and home extension agents from surrounding counties this week at the Puckeye Banquet Room. Magician Robert Falkner from King Arthur's Court performed on WOUB TV. A door prize went to Kathleen Kane of Ames Bern High School. Edgar Tuckerman and Mrs. Tuckerman attended. Athens Elks and Emblem Club invite a Halloween Dance October 31 at the Elks Lodge with Dick Russell's Band. costumes optional.

Descendants and friends gathered October 11 at Hocking Valley Sportsmen's Club in Radford Road for the ninth annual Sapp reunion.
