Beacon School Moves to Quarters on Columbus Road
Athens County Beacon School will relocate from the Children's Home to a leased brick residence on Columbus Road early in November. The Child Welfare Board rents the property for 180 dollars a month for 20 months, with up to 2160 dollars credited toward purchase. The move aims to provide two classes, 12 and 10 children, more space and a two acre playground.

Ohio Fuel Gas Rate Reductions End in Athens and Nelsonville
Ohio Fuel Gas Co notifies officials that rate reductions in Athens and Nelsonville will terminate December 1. Two cents per 1000 cubic feet will be restored as refunds from gas suppliers, passed to customers via fuel cost provisions. Coolville gains 2.5 cents per thousand cubic feet under a new ordinance.

Chest X Ray Survey Scheduled For Athens County
Athens County will hold a 1963 TB chest x ray survey from November 5 to 27 with a mobile unit from the Ohio Department of Health visiting multiple county sites. About 7,151 people were examined in 1962, with 6823 negative results and 102 suspected TB. 226 showed non TB pathology.
