Hospital Levy Expiring in 3 Years Spurs Meigs County Debate
Meigs County leaders urge renewal of a hospital levy as plans for a new 1.5 mill issue hinge on voter approval. The current levy, first set in 1916 and later reduced, would expire in 1956, with a proposed seventh tenths of a mill increase after then. If approved, the tax would add about 15 cents per $100 valuation.
