Bobcats versus Broncos set in pivotal Homecoming clash

Seven to be inducted into Ohio University Athletics Hall of Fame

OU to honor seven members at Hall of Fame ceremonies tonight at the Ohio University Inn led by Les Carney the youngest former athlete inducted. Other inductees include Thor Olson a wrestling legend and coach and Len Janiak and Bob Snyder among the seven with Ohio ties and NFL connections. Prominent names and careers span Ohio University Buckeyes OSU and NFL history with ceremonies at Peden Stadium Saturday.

Ohio University Homecoming 1971 Schedule Highlights

Alumni and students plan a packed weekend at Ohio University with an Oktoberfest carnival tug of war and pep rally on Friday evening. Saturday features a soccer match against Western Michigan, an Alumni Luncheon with Miss America, Hall of Fame inductees, the Homecoming game with halftime shows, and a Carpenters concert at the Convocation Center. Sunday offers a flea market on College Green.

Ohio Universitys First Homecoming Game 1921 Anniversary

The Athens Messenger notes Ohio University marked 20th anniversary of its first Homecoming football game on November 4 1921 when Ohio beat Cincinnati 7 to 6 before more than 2000 fans. It also notes the 50 year span since and the MACs silver anniversary with Ohio as a charter member.

Miss America 1971 to Attend Ohio University Homecoming

Miss Laurel Lea Schaefer, Miss America 1971 and Ohio University alumna, will return for Homecoming 1971. She will hold a Friday press conference, speak at the Alumni Luncheon, and perform in the halftime show of the Ohio University versus Western Michigan game.
