Alva police report suggests ransom of 50000 dollars to secure the release of L. Yocum, a Galva banker, held by kidnapers. Mrs Yocum plans to pay as directed while authorities defer to her judgment and say the case remains officially closed.
Charles Hamilton aged 30 died at the Mate Penitentiary in Columbus when a hand-operated freight elevator cable touched a high tension wire. Warden Thomas said insulation failure caused contact as Hamilton rode the elevator from the dining room to the basement storeroom.
The Federal Government through the Bureau of Biological Survey administers 86 game and bird regulations. Five are large game preserves. one is a muskrat and beaver preserve. Birds are protected widely. Congress provided for migratory bird sanctuaries at Cheyenne Bottoms Kansas and a tidal block in Chesapeake Bay Back Bay Virginia to protect waterfowl and habitat.
