The Plains Elementary seeks a 3.77 million bond vote on November 8 to fund energy conservation. It will replace exterior doors and windows, lower ceilings to cut heat loss, and reduce heated area after last winter's frigid 55 degree classrooms and 7 065 dollar heating bill.
The plan calls for insulation of attics in three buildings built 1917 1922 and the early 1930s and sealing outer walls to prevent water seepage. The sixth grade will stay at The Plains, with more room needed for enrollment increasing by 50 to 60 students from 299. Two Morrison Elementary modular rooms move to The Plains saving about 20000. A second phase 10 to 12 years hence may replace The Plains buildings. The Athens Middle School fire alarm not required due to demolition annex. The Nelsonville Civil Service Commission will hold an October 26 1977 patrolman exam with Oct 25 1977 deadline.
