Union workers at Bridgwater tire mold plant in Athens ratified a 29 month contract by a two to one vote ending the longest recent strike. The union plans to return to work but exact call back numbers and schedule are not yet available as plant officials could not be reached.
In Saigon South Vietnam civilian leaders take over from the military as Phan Khac Sun becomes head of state. Maj. Gen. Nguyen Khanh resigns as premier, with the High National Council choosing a caretaker premier until a new constitution. The move signals possible stability but risks further turmoil amid wartime pressures.
In Viet Nam 2 Americans died in a Skyraider crash near Saigon while six other Americans were wounded as fighting with the Viet Cong continued. A second U. S. transport was shot down near the Cambodian border, killing eight Americans aboard. Capt. Herman Y. Towery of Georgetown, S C, was identified among the bodies recovered at the frontier.
Three doctors of osteopathy accepted staff privileges at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Pomeroy, joining Dr. R. R. Pickens of Middleport and Drs. John Ridgway and Ray Heaton of Pomeroy. Dr. J. J. The Canadian Wheat Board says Russia purchased 10.6 million bushels of wheat and flour for about 21 million dollars. Shipment via St Lawrence and Atlantic ports starts next month and covers 250000 long tons of wheat and 25000 long tons of flour with potential delivery to Cuba.

Nine U S Marines were killed when two H34 helicopters collided during amphibious maneuvers near Huelva Spain. The craft crashed at about 800 feet amid the invasion fleet, catching fire as they struck a rocky escarpment. Twelve Marines escaped the blaze and one was severely injured.
