Meigs Jurist Testifies at Reconversion Hearing

Judge Edgar Ervin of the court of common pleas testified at Huntington before a subcommittee of U S Senators Kilgore and Mitchell on reconversion of the TNT plant at Point Pleasant and the Marietta Plant contracts. Army testimony described 8300 acres of plant land 40 miles of improved highways and 20 miles of railroad, with possible use for sulphuric acid or a giant fertilizer plant. Ervin noted the site as an economical standby TNT plant and a strategic location for hydrogenation of coal for synthetic gasoline with ample water labor housing and salt brines nearby.
