OBITUARIES Dr Charles Frederick Kittle born Oct 24 1921 in Athens Ohio died Oct 18 2015 in Chicago aged 93 He was a Navy veteran physician and pioneer in oncology and cardiovascular surgery He led a major 1964 drive to ban cigarette vending machines on campuses and performed Chicago's first heart transplant in 1969 He taught at Kansas University University of Chicago Rush Medical School and Rush Cancer Center donor of Doyleana collection to Newberry Library and founder of Rush Elliott Endowed Professorship Funeral services for Freda E Brooks also noted with details on burial and family notes.
