Mayor Hears Eight Cases In Logan Court

Logan Mayor Denzi Weltner heard eight cases over the weekend in Merle Frank River. A driver was fined $2 and costs for leaving the scene of an accident. Another man fined $5 and costs for failing to stop at a signal on Route 33. Carol Bowlby pleaded guilty to feckless driving and was fined $10 and costs. Norris fined $10 and costs for overloading a truck. Four defendants charged with drunk and disorderly conduct were each fined $5 and costs.

Five Hocking Steers Bring Good Price at Columbus Show

Five Hocking County 4-H steers were shown and sold at the Columbus Junior Livestock Show. Each steer, mostly Herefords, brought prices from 22 to 25 cents a pound with totals to $1,057.50. exhibitors included Jack North Harry Mack Boss Paul Hahn Tommy Hahn and Nick Hahn with support from local families and the county agent.

Toy making talk opens Child Study group at Rockbridge

Logan Homemade Toys topic at first Child Study group meeting held Thursday at Rockbridge School. Elizabeth Carmichael Ohio State University specialist explained making exhibited toys. Nelsonville's drive reports about half of the $3,000 War Fund quota raised with solicitors noting steady effort. Belpre girl chosen for Candida lead at Marietta College play

Tommy Bronaugh of Belpre, a senior at Marietta College, has been selected to play the title role in George Bernard Shaw's Candida. The Players Club of a darletta College opens November 17 and 18. Nelsonville relatives attended a private piano recital by Zoe Mac Bronaugh in Parkersburg. Bronaugh, also an aviatrix, will soon enter Cornell University. Both Bronaugh girls are daughters of Dr and Mrs Wayne Bronaugh of Belpre, former Kathleen Lowther of Parkersburg.

Soldiers Arrested After AWOL Turnover at Fort Hayes

Two soldiers named Charles Johnson and Jack Martin were picked up Saturday night by Patrolman Everett Hew t and turned over to the army at Fort Hayes Columbus on Sunday. The incident involved AWOL personnel from the U S Army and occurred in Nelsonville.
