State Auditor Refuses Aging Pension Mail Funds
Columbus court ruled that 75000 dollars earmarked for mailing old age pensioners checks could not be shifted from State Auditor S. T. Ferguson to the Welfare Department without his consent. The court dissolved an order restraining the State Board of Control from certifying its Sept. 30 action to surrender the money. The legislature moved mailing duties to the Welfare Department but not the postage funds, and Ferguson refused to relinquish them. The aged aid division said it would cover postage by trimming elsewhere for the rest of this year and 1942.
