The project includes bridge repairs at Monday Creek, with a wage scale similar to PWA and worker selection from the National Reemployment Service. Contract let in Columbus on Nov 9 with completion by July 1 1935 and landscaping by Nov 1 1935.
Ohio voters approach a mass verdict in two weeks as Governor candidate Martin L. Davey continues attacks on state relief and old age pension administration. Donahey and Davey spoke in Cincinnati after Donahey issued his statement while Davey promoted Roosevelt and the New Deal in radio broadcasts. Republican Paul Herbert planned a reply to Davey's charge that his banking statements are lies.
Athens city and county schools will be closed Friday October 26 so teachers may attend the Southeastern Ohio Education Association convention in town, announced by the city and county superintendents offices.

In Marietta Ohio on October 23 three men were arrested for flooding Southeastern Ohio with counterfeit ten dollar notes. Elmer E Martin a 38 year old roadhouse proprietor who had escaped from Trumbull County Jail was recaptured in a downtown Warren hotel by a heavily armed squad led by Sheriff Roy Hardman and Police Chief B J Gillen. He offered no resistance and the getaway car was found tucked in his shirt.
FERA engineers plan a 2000 foot water line from the existing main to Athens CCC camp on Peach Ridge. The line from W A Matheny home will run 1000 feet north and 1000 feet east to reach the site. City supplies materials and right of way details await city executives. Meanwhile repairs at the Children’s Home and Courthouse progress, with weather stripping and window repairs near completion and new courthouse improvements planned soon.
Detroit October 23 Prot Jean Piccard and his wife Jeannette launched from Ford Airport at 6 58 a m Eastern Standard Time for a balloon ascent into the stratosphere They planned to descend somewhere near Eastern Pennsylvania and keep in touch with ground via a two way short wave radio at noon they were seated near Cleveland.
Cincinnati October 23. Suit on file here today by Ben Riesenberg seeks to restrain price fixing under an Ohio retail coal code. He argues the code promotes monopolies suppresses small enterprises and discriminates against the small operators contrary to the Ohio Recovery Act claiming noncompliance with the act provisions.
More than 262 million dollars of the aggregate deposits affected in Ohio banks liquidated since January 1950 have been released or absorbed through reopening sales and dividends. The figure comes from a report to Ira J. Fulton, superintendent of banks, by the department's liquidating division.

London reports a Maddison County highway worker died and another was fatally injured when a county car was struck by a moving van four miles north of here on Highway 42. The van was destroyed by fire after the collision as the men were en route to West Jefferson.
Mrs Frances Robinson 2 enters not guilty plea in the kidnapping of Mrs Alice Speed Stoll. A tentative trial date in Federal court in Louisville is set for October 20. In a separate brief item Youth Falls 6 Feet Dies reports William Kohler 17, star halfback at Ruane High School, died after a fall from a tree while nut hunting near Wapakoneta on October 2.

East Liverpool reports the death of Charles Arthur Floyd known as Pretty Boy Floyd. Wounded after a pursuit by Melvin Purvis and other officers on a farm seven miles north of the city, Floyd was said to have aided by locals before being cornered and fatally shot after a stand near a corn crib and wooded ridge.
Clarence J. Brown, Republican candidate for governor, told a Sebring audience that Ohio’s financial problems stem from funds poured into patronage, recruiting and training armies, with inspectors and bureaus in Columbus blamed for deficits. He warned of looming school and welfare shortfalls and pledged a thorough housecleaning if elected.
Findlay Ohio October 23 authorities searched three counties after three bank notes linked to the Stoll ransom were found. A suspected stranger was traced to a Putnam County farmhouse in a raiding party for the alleged kidnapper T H Robins Jr of Mrs Alice Stoll. The man found bore only slight resemblance to the fugitive.
Bruno Hauptmann will be arraigned tomorrow in Flemington New Jersey on a first degree murder indictment for killing Colonel Lindbergh's infant son. He will plead not guilty, the only answer permitted by law.
