Death of Luzerne Moore at Birthplace Farm

Luzerne Moore died at his home three miles south of Athens Tharsis after a long illness from cancer and dropsy. He was forty-one, died in the house where he was born, survived by his wife and four children. Northern Pacific brakeman killed in accident at Sew Salem

Wickham, a brakeman on the Northern Pacific, was crushed between a drawbar and killed while coupling an engine to a freight train near Sew Salem North Dakota. He left a wife and four children. his funeral was held in Athens after aid from the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
