Mason County TNT Plant Sets September Record
The Mason County TNT plant, West Virginia Ordnance Works, established a new production record for September and remains the country’s second largest TNT producer. Production celebrations will mark two years of operation on Oct. 21, with plans to boost output further. The facility, built by Badger and Son’s Company of Boston, is expanding with a new filtration plant to sustain higher rates, while noting enough TNT produced in two years could fill a wall from Point Pleasant to Winnipeg.
