Alumni and Athens residents swarm campus as Ohio and Miami face off in a big homecoming football clash. Miami band arrives, tickets in demand, and fraternities plan floats, serenades, and events through Saturday morning.
Nathan M Kasler, 2, dropped dead near his home at about 6 30 last night. Funeral services will be Sunday at the Church of Christ conducted by G B Courtney of Buria! Burial in Street Cemetery in Ath ier bed. He is survived by two years, two sons and five daughters Kasler Kasler plus Mrs Lydia Kittle of Trimble and others.
Ohio University notes Home-Coming day history with five years of data showing rain in 1929 1931 and 1932 and clear in 1928 1930. Forecast predicts partly cloudy warmer conditions with probable rain tomorrow.
J. R. Thomas of the Ohio State Association of Township Trustees and Clerks will address the Athens County Association on Saturday afternoon. If weather allows the meeting will be on the City Hall steps. otherwise in the Courthouse Court room. The discussion will cover countermeasures to the County Home Rule Amendment on the November 7 Ohio ballot. County trustees oppose the amendment and will campaign against it. Thomas is due from Zanesville between 2:30 and 3:00. Albert Kierns of Ames Township chairs the county association, with Charlie Moore of Athens Township as secretary.
The Eighth District of the American Legion plans a fall conference in Murray City on Sunday Oct 2 with officer schools in the forenoon a chicken dinner by the Women's Auxiliary a parade at 1 pm and a 2 pm public session with musical entertainment and speeches by Ha Hare and Thomas McCaw. The district covers Athens Fairfield Gallia Hocking Jackson Meigs Perry and Vinton counties. Legion musical groups and the K T Croasen Drum and Bugle Corps are expected to participate.
Major C. E. Bates divisional commander from Cincinnati and Mrs Bates will conduct Salvation Army services in the citadel on West Union Street tonight at 7:30. Bates is a noted speaker and worker in the Athens District. This noon he spoke to the Advisory Board at a luncheon, and Mrs Bates addressed Home League women this afternoon.
Final touches completed for the Athens Junior and Senior High School Fall Festival in the gymnasium. Doors open at 6 30 with supper served. Attractions include dancing booths wares and Mardi Gras style activities with Jitney dancing to Sammy Kaye's orchestra under Russ Dean.
The Senate Stock Market Committee obtained a report on alcohol stock accounts of at least 99 New York Stock Exchange members. Richard Whitney, NYSE president, led the review. The existence of a whisky pool and its charges were not disclosed.

Ohio hunters may use dogs at any time as the prohibition order ending the ban from October 15 to November 14 has been rescinded. The state Conservation Commissioner William H. Reinhart announced the change. Guna and tree climbers remain prohibited before the hunting season.

Homer Ward age 58, a Gallia County attorney and insurance man, died at Holzer Hospital after a C and O Railroad train struck his automobile at Evergreen, six miles from Gallipolis. He had been injured at 1 pm and transported by train crew. Ward was a former Probate Judge candidate and active Republican. He leaves two sons, Paul and Homer.
London reports Nazi Germany plans to soften internal policy while hardening demands for equality with other powers. Chancellor Adolf Hitler is said to plan a mass conditional release of non Communist and non Socialist political internees, per United Press from Berlin.
Oitatt Specially J J Stacey a 30 year old itinerant barber struck by an automobile in Gallipolis last Saturday night died early today in hospital. Stacey a World War veteran.
In Springfield Illinois three militia companies mobilized as thousands of Progressive Miners massed to picket Peabody Coal Company mines while state police guarded the capitol. NRA counsel Richberg urged settlement terms including peaceful union activity and local hiring preferences. A violent mood lingered as a Progressive leader was shot and a UMW member surrendered for escort. Governor Horner called a conference with operators and union leaders.
In Parkersburg West Virginia Ethal Chandler 46 was found dead in the Kanawha River after vanishing Friday. Coroner rules death by own action. Police report twelve others missing in recent weeks with Chandler as seventh drowning near the Fast Street Bridge in two months.
