Reduced Millage Asked For TB
Athens Countians may see a tax cut on the renewal of the tuberculosis levy. A .2 mill reduction from .6 mill would fund five years of hospital care and TB treatment via the Athens City- County Health Department. The TB association campaigns for renewal noting a working balance but warns that without renewal the account would exhaust in under three years.

Halloween Party Set For Oct 30 In The Palins Elementary
Children in The Palins Elementary School area may attend a Halloween party at the school from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 30. The event replaces trick or treating in The Plains and features a costume parade, a funhouse, bobbing for apples, relays, and snacks. Preschoolers join in the cafeteria, older students in the gym or Fire House, with donations requested at the Post Office or school.

Captain Glover Receives Air Force Commendation Medal
Captain William S. Glover, son of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Glover of Guysville Route 2, received the Air Force Commendation Medal at Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio for meritorious service as a mathematician at Ent AFB Colorado. He is now at Wright-Patterson attending the Air Force Institute of Technology. He is a 1958 Parkersburg High School graduate who attended Ohio University the University of Maryland European Division and Wright State University. He was commissioned in 1969 after graduating from Officer Training School at Lackland AFB Texas.

Hearing Set To Prioritize Rumac Lakeview Dorms Liens
A 1:30 p.m. October 29 hearing in Athens County Common Pleas Court will determine lien priorities and amounts from the September 8 sale of Rumac Inc and Lakeview Dormitories Inc properties. Mellon National Bank and Trust Co, Pittsburgh, paid 4.7 million and had sale approved, with 4.799 million realized from buildings and furnishings. Court records show liens and mortgages totaling about 6 million including 147000 in Athens County property taxes. 11 parties had filed for attachment of liens.
