The Athens county grand jury returned numerous indictments Saturday evening including Frank Andrews for cutting to wound James Mace for assault and battery Jacob Schnaur for slander William Jones for assault and battery Betty McKinley for slander Andrew J Woods for two counts of selling liquor to minors Jacob Kepler for assault and battery William Ryan and Tillman Weekley for threats Elijah Cobb for carrying concealed weapons and assault and battery William Harshey for assault to kill Lewis Wetzel for horse stealing and other charges. There were 230 witnesses. Prosecuting Attorney Wood deserves commendation for expedited examinations after Wednesday court convened.
