Daredevil Captain Rhodes dives from bridge into river
Captain J D Rhodes leaped from the lantern crib of the International Bridge at Black Rock during a gale. He wore a life saving coat and surfaced quickly, then was taken aboard a steam yacht with his wife clinging to him. They planned to swim to Tonawanda but poor blasts forced them back. The display impressed the watching party.
