HARDINSBURG Ky Four people died when a nuclear armed B52 and its KC135 tanker collided during refueling. The eight crew included four survivors from the B52 and four tanker crew members aboard. Names linked to Columbus Air Force Base identified. The wreckage occurred on farms near the two crash sites.

Auto output rose slower than usual in September due to steel shortages.
Portland doctors report the 34 month old Stubblefield twins Jeanett and Denett have survived the separation surgery. A 17 member surgical team completed the operation on October 6 at the University of Oregon Medical School Hospital. If either twin dies, officials say it would be from a post operative complication, not the procedure itself. The girls are daughters of Mr and Mrs James Stubblefield of Parma Idaho.
