Ohio Tax Plan Could Increase Bills for 15% of Taxpayers
Washington reports House Republicans push to scrap state and local tax deductions as part of a broad tax reform. Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy warns about higher taxes for about 15 percent of Ohioans while 75 percent would see cuts, mainly benefiting the top 5 percent. The plan includes three-bracket rates, lower corporate tax, higher standard deduction, and elimination of the personal exemption, with debates over cuts and a potential compromise on state and local taxes.
