Guysville man appeals eight year felonious assault sentence

Jerry Noble, 44, challenged his April conviction on two counts of felonious assault and an eight year prison term. The appeal questioned juror instructions on aggravated assault and the credibility of $3000 restitution. Arguments cited mutual combat and disputed injuries from the July 2014 incident involving Donald Cush. The appeal was heard by a panel of 4th District judges.

Torres missed the ceremony due to a prior engagement and reflected on survival and pride in the award.

Athens County Voters to Decide Two Tax Levies

Athens County voters face two countywide levies in this general election. A 0.3 mill replacement levy for the health department would raise about 289 800 annually for 10 years, surpassing current funding by roughly 41 000 each year. The levy backs staff and operations including immunization and flu clinics. A 0.75 mill five year renewal levy is also on the ballot for senior citizens programs, with further village and township tax issues noted.
