The Ohio State Board of Education discusses a plan to set a uniform school entry age, possibly Sept 15, with legislative authorization to enforce it. They also consider boosting state aid by 19.6 million dollars for salaries, renovations, buses, and district reorganization processes.
Studied Geauga and Portage Counties. If similar cost increases come up, the board was told, a half million dollars is left from 10 million appropriated by the Legislature two years ago. The board's building section warned, however, that the state may have to supply more than 37 million between 1959 60 to supplement an 84 673 433 building program in school districts. Twenty five counties submitted supplementary budget requests totaling 62 172 for the last half of 1958.
President Eisenhower greeted over 500 Republican staffers at a birthday breakfast and urged a united fighting campaign to win back Congress. He stressed accomplishments and optimism, attended a Pontifical Requiem Mass for Pope Pius XII, and planned a White House family dinner to cap the day.
One thousand U S Army troops returned to Bremerhaven Germany from emergency duty in Lebanon and were the first group to leave Lebanon by ship aboard the General Le Roy Eltinge. More than 700 soldiers had been airlifted earlier to West Germany. The 24th Infantry Division troops were flown to Lebanon last July at the request of Camille Chamoun then president who feared a pro Nasser coup.

Cleveland reports a muttering man tearing up money led to the rescue of a 242 year old girl found in a six foot grave in Holy Cross Cemetery. Lloyd Beehler, 26, was arrested after claiming he sacrificed his daughter to the lord as the world ends in three days.
The Atomic Energy Commission plans a 50 foot wooden tower blast and an underground shot on Wednesday in its Nevada test series. A balloon shot is scheduled for Thursday.
Harvey S. Cross, parks and recreation manager for the Muskingum Conservancy District in New Philadelphia Ohio, has been named vice president of the American Institute of Park Executives effective immediately.
A three year study of lung cancer will be undertaken jointly by the American Cancer Society and the Veterans Administration. The program will begin at several veterans centers, including the one at Dayton, Ohio.

Mrs Eleeta Pierce admits she and her husband Richard Pierce, 22, were pursued by the FBI after a nationwide search. Richard was arrested at an east side factory where he worked as a welder after jumping a $5000 bond and skipping a December 8 1955 court date in St Louis for a store burglary. The couple, living in Cleveland for 17 months, have a nine month old daughter Deloma. Richard used the alias James Dale Craig before authorities say he reclaimed his real name.
In Limnatis village near Limassol a Greek Cypriot was killed when he did not halt for a British military patrol. Earlier a bomb was thrown at a Nicosia patrol but exploded harmlessly. Bombs aimed at a three vehicle army convoy in Larnaca district caused no damage.
A 13 state alert is issued for Donald Goethius, 15, of Avon Ohio, reported missing since Monday from Chesire Academy in Connecticut. Authorities issue an all–points alert seeking his whereabouts and describe him as a male with brown hair and blue eyes.
New York report says the Air Force has approval for two additional space probes alongside three lunar shots signed last spring. One mission likely targets Venus data. a November 7 lunar flight is tentatively scheduled. Officials would not comment on the disclosures or schedule. Informants say the extra launches were approved about two months ago and will occur after the new year. The Venus and Earth distances are noted for context.
Lt. Clifton McClure 25 rode the Air Force Man High balloon to the edge of space. A surgeon on the ground monitored him by remote control as the sealed cockpit overheated. He stayed coherent and followed directions for most of the flight despite hours of high fever. He reached 99,600 feet before returning 12 hours short of the target.

Requiem services continued before a symbolic coffin in St. Peter's Basilica as cardinals gather to elect a successor. The late pope was buried in the grottos beneath the basilica, with mourning Masses set through Sunday and limited access for choirs and priests. William S. Hindman of Columbus, longtime chief of the Ohio Department of Highways bridge bureau, who designed and built Ohio State Universitys horseshoe stadium and later the University of Pittsburgh stadium, died Monday night at age 82.
Lawrence Burns, the successor to late Rep J Harry McGregor, says it is unnecessary to replace November ballots. Instead paste-in strips bearing Burns name can be used to save money. McGregor died last week and Coshocton context noted.

An Atlanta man signed a statement claiming an anti Semitic group met last May to plan the dynamiting of a Jewish temple. He said 40 to 50 sticks of dynamite were set off and that an architect drafted the target layout, with dynamite to be sourced from Kentucky and detonated by a Birmingham operative.
