Snow Hill Maryland October 13 A mob of up to 2000 enraged farmers marched on Snow Hill seeking to lynch Orphan Jones a 60 year old Negro man held in connection with the axe slayings of Green Davis 55 Ivy Davis 48 and their daughters Elizabeth 15 and Mary Lee 18. Jones resisted an all night interrogation and was moved to the Snow Hill jail where a police detail held the crowd. The Davises bodies were found in bed with heads battered and kerosene on the floor and clothing indicating an arson attempt. Investigators found rings and a pocketbook suspected to belong to the Davises. The case moves to possible grand jury action as state police guard the jail and the crowd.
