California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation to permanently repeal the high school exit exam, ending a 18 year push to require students prove skills for diplomas. The law was suspended in 2015, allowing 32,000 diploma recipients who hadn’t passed the test to graduate, with new assessments now in place.
