Springfield sergeant Charles E. Jackson, 24, married Betty Ann Stabler, 21, in the Clark County jail after overstaying his leave. The ceremony was conducted in the jail office by Maj. S. A. Schram of the Salvation Army as Jackson spent his honeymoon there.

Ira Johnson, 50, of Akron died after his car stalled on a Baltimore and Ohio crossing in Rittman. The Ambassador Flyer struck the vehicle, hurling the motor feet and fatally striking Johnson. His companion Aleck Jones, 26, also of Akron, was killed alongside him.
