President Hoover will speak in the Cleveland Auditorium on the night of October 15 in the second major political address of his re election campaign. The White House announced the trip will follow a Des Moines stop last Tuesday with a same night return to Washington.

Carl Smith of Sand Ridge pleaded not guilty to assault with intent to kill and driving an automobile while intoxicated. Magistrate Pearl Miller bound him over to Athens County Common Pleas Court on $400 total bond. Clifford Martin, another Sand Ridge resident, testified Smith pointed a shotgun and tried to shoot him last Thursday before Martin wrested the gun away.
Lt. Robert Keyser 25 a milk wagon driver shot himself Sunday in front of his wife and two children amid ongoing money worries. He had reportedly been unsettled by finances.
Forrest W. McNamara 40s of Cambridge Ohio, a Pennay Railroad Big Jetta division conductor, was fatally injured when he stepped from a train gate near the Tuscarawas River and fell fifty feet into the riverbank.
