Delegates Attend County WCTU Convention in Athens
Over a hundred delegates from Nelsonville Glouster Amesville Coolville and other Athens county towns attended the county convention of the Women s Christian Temperance Union at the First Methodist church in Nelsonville. Mrs Kate L Blake was reelected president and all officers were renominated. A memory service honored nine members who died in the past year. State president Mrs Florence D P Richard did not attend due to a family emergency. Lucy Van Kirk spoke and Rev O J Howearth reviewed the Union s work. Resolutions praised past achievements and urged stronger enforcement of prohibition laws. Linscott was named musical director for another year.
