Dr. Goldsberry Receives 50 Year Medical Service Honor
Athens physician Dr. Blaine R. Goldsberry was honored by the Ohio State Medical Association for 50 years in medicine. He received the certificate from Dr. William W. Wells at a Athens County Medical Society meeting after a luncheon at Sheltering Arms Hospital. Goldsberry, Johns Hopkins 1918, served in WWI and held key roles at the hospital and county health board. He also led the hospital as chief of staff and radiologist and long served as team physician for Ohio University.

Three Drivers Cited After Area Crashes
State Highway Patrol cited three drivers after three area crashes with one injury. Robert Oliver 42 of Jackson was taken to a doctor in McArthur after a 10 45 a m crash on U S Route 50 west of McArthur. David B Smith 38 of Chillicothe was cited for failure to yield after pulling onto Route 40 in front of Oliver causing a rear end skid and mailbox impact. Sally M Fisher 20 of Athens Route 1 was slightly injured and cited for following too closely after rear ending Ralph Wheatley 44 of Athens while he waited to turn from Route 50 west of Athens. Wilbur Hartman 51 of Nelsonville was cited for improper turn after his car hit another in Buchtel.

Mobile Units Moved To Miller Ave For Family Rentals
Rosser Bateman moved two mobile units once housing Athens city school offices from behind the old high school stadium to Miller Ave. Bought at the school auction on Aug. 23 for 550 dollars, he plans to rent the units to individual families.

The Red Cross bloodmobile collected 107 pints on Tuesday, two-day total 231, below the 270-pint quota. Athens Jaycees sponsored the drive with Dale Nitaschke as chairman. Dr. Kinnard and other physicians and nurses assisted.

Open House Set At McBee Plant In Athens
The McBee Systems plant in east Athens opens its doors next Tuesday and Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. for public observation. The five acre building on Route 50E cost 3.9 million to build with 3 million in equipment and sits on 18 acres of surrounding open land. Opened for operation July 24, the site houses executive offices, accounting and secretarial space, an art department, photography and plate making, and other printing facilities. Visitors may tour the facility and enjoy coffee, punch, and cake after the tour courtesy of the McBee Women's Association. Quarter century McBee employees will greet visitors at the lobby.

Athens County Issues 1131 New Car Titles in September
Athens County's Vehicle Title Office issued 1131 new and used car titles in September. Fees totaled 3011.50 with 2224.75 directed to the county. boat and motor fees added 13 from 17.50 collected for eight titles. The month also saw 169 trucks, 58 motorcycles, 70 house trailers, eight campers, six school buses, six jeeps, two motorbikes, two combinations, and a truck tractor, plus 288 from 96 vehicle inspections.
