Colorado To Train New Kind Of Medico
In Denver the University of Colorado Medical School will train a new midlevel pediatric practitioner to address the coming shortage of child health care. The program aims to produce "child care associates" who can handle about 80 percent of a pediatrician’s workload after five years of study, with salaries starting around 10,000 to 12,000 dollars. The plan, approved by Colorado medical societies, would require certification and supervision in private or public health settings, and legislation is being drafted for January consideration.
