Cincinnati police believe 13 year old Robert Henry was dead before a mysterious Sunday call to his home. His body was found Monday night in a Price Hill wooded area with a rope around his neck tied to a tree. Police questioned a local barber who said he did not know the boy and gave his Sunday alibi.
In Baghdad Premier Abdel Karim Kassem seeks to heal a rift with pro Nasser revolutionary Brig Abdul Salam Arif after Kassem crushed a conspiracy by soldiers backing Arif. Arif’s regiment was disarmed and he placed under house arrest as Kassem and Arif diverge over Iraq’s link to the United Arab Republic.

President Eisenhower named Gerald D. Morgan as principal deputy assistant and David W. Kendall as Morgan’s successor as special counsel. Kendall previously served as assistant secretary of the Treasury and is a Washington attorney. Both appointments take effect in November.

Corona California reports Carlos Ramirez, 54, trapped 90 minutes under 100 tons of rock in a quarry slide while planting explosives. Rescue crews used a steam shovel to move 40 tons and a smaller machine to remove 60 tons before workers freed him with hand shovels. He escaped with minor injuries aided by a steel helmet forming an air pocket.
