Explosion at Hercules Powder plant kills two in New Jersey

A half ton of experimental rocket propellant exploded at the Hercules Powder Co plant in Kenvil killing two men and injuring five others. The bunker's destruction and flaming debris were reported as workers were mixing propellant by remote control. The five injured were not seriously hurt.

In Chardon Ohio a man, Stanley Zoszak 35, was killed when his car lost control in heavy rain. His wife Dorothy 29, a passenger, is listed in fair condition at Geauga Community Hospital.

Doctors Will Attempt To Separate Siamese Twins In Oregon

In Portland a surgical team from the University of Oregon Medical School plans a difficult separation operation for Siamese twins Jeanet Kim and Denett Linn born June 29 to James and Mrs Stubblefield of Parma Idaho. The girls joined at the abdomen and weigh 18 pounds combined.

Youths Attack Eight Negroes in Brooklyn Incident

A group of 40 to 50 white youths attacked eight Negro teenagers as they left a school center in Brownsville Brooklyn. Ernest Armstrong 16 was treated for a chest slash and released. Four youths were held by police. Investigators said no gangs were involved and motive was unclear.

Contestants Called In Twenty-one Probe Hearings Start

Three Killed In Two Car Wreck Near McConnelsville

Three people died and five were injured in a Monday two car crash on Ohio 77 one mile south of McConnelsville. Victims were Owen Myers 25 Elyria and his infant child. Denise Spurgeon 18 Mount Vernon died later at Bethesda Hospital. Injured include Roy Spurgeon 21 his wife Deborah 3 and Roy Spurgeon Sr. Myers wife Mary and their 3 year old son were also hurt.
