Forty three miners 1350 feet below ground at Lehigh Navigation Coal Company in Coaldale Pa staged a sit-down strike to demand higher wages. On the eighth level at one of the deepest southern anthracite shafts they halted digging while 1200 colleagues supported them by supplying meals, others continued work in sympathy request.
In Columbus Rep P E Ward proposed legislation to issue and sell tax lien certificates on properties with delinquent special assessments and grant local authorities power to adjust assessments when certificates cannot be sold. Ward, a member of the delinquent tax commission, said the issue drives Ohio tax delinquency.
J O Cartwright of Ottawa said he accidentally shot and killed his longtime friend Dr. J W Shaw during a squirrel hunt in Coshocton. The fatal incident occurred after a misfire during the outing.
