Need For School Levy Stressed To Central PTA

Logan City School Superintendent Dwight Diller urged Central Elementary PTA members to support the 11.5 mill operating levy on the Nov 5 ballot. He noted the renewal increases from 10.3 to 11.5 mills, with 3.9 mills from the state but warned without at least 10 mills the state subsidy ends. He said the levy funds operating expenses only and explained valuation basics and the impact on a $10 000 home. He cited enrollment growth, higher teacher salaries, inflation and the link between quality schools and industry as reasons to approve the measure.
