Athens County Coroner John H Elias ruled death from a fractured skull after a New York Central train strike. Ohio Population Rises 891 000 Since 1940

The census bureau reports Ohio’s population increased by 891000 since 1940 to 7799000, up 12.9 percent as of July 1. National growth is 11 percent. Ohio ranks as the fifth largest state, with California at 3124000, Michigan 939000, and New York 907000 leading the list.

Burr Oak to Get Its Traffic Light During Dam Project

Burr Oak, a tiny village near Glouster in Athens County, will gain a traffic light at Route 13 and the dam site entrance as the state builds the Burr Oak dam.
